Genesis Of SANATHANATM

SANATHANATM, is the brainchild of Sri. G. V. Reddy, whose main goal is to bring back the age-old tradition of storing and reading ancient scriptures and books on Palm Leaf manuscripts. Palm Leaf manuscripts were used by our ancestors to record religious practices and ancient scriptures. Palm leaves were commonly used as writing material, which were then bound in book form, to facilitate easy transportation and exchange.

makitToday, people can view palm leaf manuscripts only in museums or oriental libraries. To change this, and make palm leaf manuscripts easily accessible and affordable to the common man, was one of the major factors, behind the birth of SANATHANATM.

The person behind this venture, Mr. G. V. Reddy is a technocrat in the field of mechanical engineering having seven years of industrial experience in special purpose machine design and tool design. He came out with an innovative idea of “MAKIT-KITS” – in the year 1996. MAKIT-KIT- a collection of carefully designed, flexible, easy to assemble, precision mechanical and electronic components for educational and training purposes. MAKIT-KITS have been a huge success, and Mr. G. V. Reddy has many institutions like IITs, IISc, Engineering and polytechnic colleges as his esteemed customers.

After the success of MAKIT-KITS, he continued his research focusing his attention on ancient Indian technologies, and more specifically, concentrated his research work on Palm leaf manuscripts (Talapatra), beginning in the year 2001. In his research he understood that in the olden days, people of that era followed no scientific method in preparing and storing manuscripts. This was the reason, for the short life-span of Palm Leaf manuscripts of yore. Hence he focused his research on scientific methods to produce manuscripts, which can not only be mass produced, but also find means to increase the life span of these manuscripts. This technology of commercially producing and protecting palm leaf manuscripts by SANATHANATM, is International patent pending (PCT Pending).
